Lucky for all of us football fans, there will be a free 25 day festival that streams every single one of the 48 matches live, and on a giant screen!
The FIFA Fan Festival hosted at The Cloud on Queens Wharf is all about focusing on accessibility and diversifying the content around sports to be inclusive of everyone. The festival programme is centred around empowering wāhine creators, performers, and gamers, boosting equitable opportunities for women’s sport.
It’s a great opportunity to enjoy live music, entertainment, food, drinks, and interactive games while celebrating and supporting the incredible athletes that are playing this year. The FIFA Fan Festival is the ultimate celebration of football, offering a unique and immersive safe place for fans of all ages, and is a must-attend for all football enthusiasts.
Starting from 20 July and finishing on 20 August, the festival is open Monday to Sunday and is a day-to-night event. The FIFA Fan Festival is a platform to showcase wāhine through the diverse range of programming and event design. EQUALIZE
EQUALIZE is a free gender-equity discussion series designed to celebrate, challenge, and inspire current and future generations around the pathways forward to girls and women in Aotearoa New Zealand. Listen to trailblazers like Dame Valerie Adams, Arizona Leger, Michèle A’court Onzm, and more on Tuesday 1 August, 12.30 – 4:30pm.
Unity Pitch
The FIFA Fan Festival is the perfect outing for families. Enjoy a safe and inclusive environment where parents and kids can bond over their shared love for football by booking the futsal-size Unity Pitch for an hour. The Unity Pitch is fully covered space for all ages and all abilities to train and play games. All equipment and balls are provided, so you don’t need to bring anything but your A game.
Freestyle Football
Experience the festival’s vibrant atmosphere with live music performances, cultural displays, and exciting entertainment acts that will keep you captivated throughout the event. Freestyle Football is a fusion of acrobatics, music, dance and exciting skills with a ball. Oceania’s #1 female Freestyle Footballer, Susan Sohar will perform and run skills clinics inside the FIFA Fan Festival from 20 – 24 July 2023, so take this amazing opportunity to learn from the best!
