Mys Tyler is a social shopping platform that is making it easier to buy clothes that fit online. Their FIT Algorithm matches women with like-bodied fashion content creators from around the world that are a similar height, shape and size, helping women see clothes on a body like theirs, and making it easier to buy clothes that don’t need to be returned!
In addition to finding body-relevant content, the app promotes representation and diversity in fashion and serves up daily prompts showcasing how a trend is worn by women of different ages, heights, shapes and sizes.
With creators all over the world, women are able to discover trends and popular brands in different geographies.
We recently spoke to the Mys Tyler New Zealand-based Contributors to hear about what they’re loving in NZ fashion at the moment, and their top styling tips for the cooler months ahead.

How do you feel about NZ’s fashion industry? Are there any brands you’re loving at the moment?
The NZ market is small but mighty, I shop a mix of local and international designers. My favourite local NZ labels are Sweepstake Winners, Stolen Girlfriends Club, for shoes Mi Paci and for tailored suits Dorset Suits.
Do you have any trending fashion tips coming into winter?
I don’t follow trends too heavily but I am still loving that suits are everywhere, I also love the continued trend for bright colours and the return of the bomber jacket.

How do you feel about NZ’s fashion industry? Are there any brands you’re loving at the moment?
Well, I’ve just done a new print for NZ brand Maaike who make beautiful NZ made clothing that can be made to any size. You’ll see me in a lot of their pieces on the Mys Tyler app – they’re an investment but they’ll last forever and the way they’re designed means they work even if your body size fluctuates which I think is such an important thing for feeling good in your clothes. Another local brand I’ve recently discovered is Moke – they create really great essentials and have extended their sizing to a size 22 and with that they include detailed garment measurements for each different style and a video showing the item on every single size. It’s a commitment that is SO appreciated and I hope others take note!
Do you have any trending fashion tips coming into winter?
I’m just loving long sleeve, mesh and lightwear knit tops to wear under summer dresses and “winterise” them. The same dress I’d wear in summer with sandals, I’ll layer up with a turtleneck, a cute knit tucked into a belt and pair of boots for winter.
Liza Cosme

How do you feel about NZ’s fashion industry? Are there any brands you’re loving at the moment?
In recent years there has been a new wave of young designers entering the New Zealand’s fashion scene which has been really exciting. Due to this I’m seeing more designers opt for bright, clashing, fun colours which I love. I love local NZ labels Sweepstakes Winner for their blouses, impeccable tailoring and the materials that they use. I also love Trelise Cooper, I like that she caters for multi generation styles which are bright, fun and exciting. And from our close neighbours in Australia, I’m an absolute fan of Aje, I find a lot of their styles fits with my style philosophy “fun and classy”, I do also love Witchery clothing, they have great tailoring.

When it comes to dressing for the cooler months, you can never go wrong with a statement coat or blazer. Opt for something that will become a staple piece in your wardrobe that mixes and matches with a range of outfits.

How do you feel about NZ’s fashion industry? Are there any brands you’re loving at the moment?
I think that as a whole NZ fashion is doing incredibly well. There are some amazing brands with more sustainable models that are thriving and this is so good to see. I’m a Ruby fan. I also love Shjark, Standard Issue and of course Maggie Marilyn.

Firstly – experiment! You don’t know if you love something until you try! There are lots of trends that we are seeing everywhere BUT – this shouldn’t be a reason to wear something. Feeling great in it should be your determining factor. I’m loving denim maxi skirts, vests, bomber jackets, knee high boots, lots of tailoring and beautiful knits for the coming season.
Amelia de Pont
Amelia is a lifelong fashion lover based out of Auckland. During the first lockdown, Amelia completed her Certificate in Styling with the Australian Style Institute and since then her love for fashion and exploring style has only grown.
How do you feel about NZ’s fashion industry? Are there any brands you’re loving at the moment?
I have huge respect for New Zealand brands and designers such as Trelise Cooper, Augustine, Ruby and World. My wardrobe would not be the same without a few special NZ designed pieces. I also enjoy shopping from Australian and international designers and snagging a bargain on local wares by purchasing items second hand. I really love that there is a rise in thrifting in New Zealand at the moment as it’s great for the environment and helps everyone access clothing that may have otherwise been at unattainable prices brand new.

My tip is you don’t have to follow the trends! They’re not for everyone, as a 37-year-old I have no desire to revisit the 90s and wear low rise jeans, cargo pants and crop tops and that’s ok. Shop what feels good for you!
