Take your cues from our spring issue make-up artist Chanelle Aldridge for a fresh new look for the season of invigoration and revival.
Begin your look with at least a tablespoon of hydrating SPF50+ on your skin to protect and lock in moisture. La Roche Posay Anthelios Invisible Fluid is a favourite among make-up artists as it creates a beautifully smooth canvas under make-up that doesn’t feel heavy or sticky.
La Roche Posay Anthelios Invisible Fluid SPF50+ 50ml, RRP $29.99.
“Barely there” base is saturating social media tutorials but you can play chemist and make your own tint by taking your favourite foundation or concealer in your shade and mixing it with MAC Strobe Cream in Goldlite. Apply to skin, starting in the centre of the face and blending outwards.
MAC Strobe Cream in Goldlite 50ml, RRP $71.
Those with oily skin will want to set the nose, chin and forehead with a translucent powder to avoid looking overly shiny. Use By Terry Hyaluronic Hydra Powder, which blurs fine lines and the appearance of pores for a flawless base while hydrating with micro-hyaluronic particles.
By Terry Hyaluronic Hydra Powder, RRP $95.
Blush is the cool girl’s contour. Take this season’s berry-pink shades from the apple of the cheeks, sweeping the colour upwards to the temples for a lifted and sculpted look. A cream blush formula looks great on all skin types and can easily be applied with your fingers. Dab some on the bridge of your nose to fake a post-poolside afterglow. Rare Beauty does a great formula with its Stay Vulnerable Melting Blush in Nearly Berry.
Stay Vulnerable Melting Blush in Nearly Berry, RRP $39.
Cheat the graphic liner look by dipping a wet liner brush into your favourite colour and draw a thin line on top of the upper lashes. We used the electric blue shade Triennial Wave in MAC’s Art Library: It’s Designer Eyeshadow Palette. To take your look to the next level, add an unusual pop of colour to the inner corner. We used Chrome Yellow from the same palette to finish off the Club Tropicana-esque eye look.
MAC Art Library: It’s Designer Eyeshadow Palette 17.2g, RRP $99.
To finish, swipe a neutral or clear gloss on your lips. But if you’re not afraid of adoring compliments, you could level up your look with MAC’s Retro Matte Liquid Lip Colour in Fashion Legacy, a flattering shade on all skin tones that lasts for 12 hours.
MAC Cosmetics Retro Matte Liquid Lip Colour in Fashion Legacy, RRP $44.
