Hidden gem: Maggie Potter

Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Ponsonby, and sitting at the top of Crummer Road, Maggie Potter stands as a hidden gem; a stylish boutique exuding charm and sophistication. With its carefully curated selection, housing brands from all around the world, Maggie Potter invites you to stop by and visit, making it a delightful destination for those seeking distinctive fashion finds. We talk to founder and owner Louise Anderson on how Maggie Potter has stood the test of time.

“I CANNOT BELIEVE it has been 31 years since my brother and I established our Maggie Potter boutique on Parnell Rise,” says retailer Louise Anderson. In the past nine years the popular store has moved to a bigger space in Ponsonby, adding a store in Wellington and a busy online store to the business as well.

“I am so blessed and thankful that many of our customers have continued to support us and we have gone on to build wonderful friendships,” she adds.

Maggie and her team are passionate about making customers feel good and love the way they look. They take real delight in helping women find what suits their body shape and lifestyle. Many of the brand’s customers have become friends and will pop in and share a coffee or a glass of wine and simply enjoy taking time out for themselves, regardless of whether they are shopping or just popping in for a chat.

“The beauty of building that human connection with our customers is we know them, and we know what they love and feel good in and they trust us to look after them.”

Louise enjoys partnering with the brand’s suppliers, bringing in new and exciting labels from all over the world while showcasing labels that they have worked with for years. Whether customers are after a piece to elevate their current look or they want to create a new look, Maggie’s team work with them to find the right pieces to suit their budget and lifestyle.

“I have been in the service industry my entire life and have always loved the ever changing world of fashion,” says Louise. “Family is important to me and I love being in business with my brother. I have been married to my beautiful husband Paul for 41 years and have two amazing daughters Georgia and Isabella, one cherished granddaughter and one on the way.
